| Traditional,
Authentic Cabinetmaking ...
Gary
Olsson served his apprenticeship and early trade years with Brisbane's
renown Harvey Bros establishment, before opening the doors to his
own business twenty years ago. His respect and adherence to traditional,
authentic cabinetmaking is absolute.

Harvey Bros were highly respected for their
authentic, traditional workmanship and ornately carved, classic
style furniture. The cabinetmaking techniques were passed on to
the brothers from their father and their trade teachers. Each preceding
generation of cabinetmakers learnt to respect and master the specialist
skills prior to handing them on to the tradesmen of the future.
Gary
has applied the skills he learnt over the years, and has become
a masterful restorer of antique furniture, reproducer of antiques,
and very adept in the design and manufacture of solid timber, custom,
classic furniture.
Guilding
was taught to Gary by long term friend and teacher, Tony Dlask.
Tony successfully ran his traditional bookbinding business in Brisbane
for decades. Gary adopted these skills, and now has an Australia
wide reputation for his 22ct gold embossing
of high quality leather products and inserts for desks.

At GN OLSSON
we employ traditional methods of furniture making and you
will find our hand tools are the same as those used by the
mastercraftsmen of yesteryear.

Glenn
Bennett (above right), Workshop Manager and Mastercraftsman
at
GN OLSSON, learnt his trade with the renown national firm of traditional
furniture makers, Eureka Furniture. Over the years Glenn has displayed
great passion and talent in custom classic furniture. He has developed
mastery through diligent patience and application in fretwork, marquetry
and parquetry. From his years in our employ he has broadened his
skill base to become a masterful restorer
of antique furniture, as well.
... amongst the gum
trees!
When
you see our workshop surrounded by tall timber bushland which backs
onto beautiful Lake Kurwongbah, you begin to appreciate we are a
little different to the rest. The Lake district is a flora and fauna
sanctuary so our "Gentle Giant" Clydesdales and poultry
often share their habitat with native birds and animals.

Our
koala friend and his mates regularly feed just metres away from
our workshop door, right in the middle of our carpark. Now this
is an environment conducive to the restoration and manufacture of
fine furniture!
Quality is assured
by our team of dedicated mastercraftsmen
and women
Dedicated
mastercraftsmen and women from associated trades link in with our
cabinetmakers to ensure the most qualified and experienced person
is working on each part of your furniture item. Although french
polishing is done at our workshop, we use subcontract french polishers
as well. We also have people from the following trades who work
with us: upholsterers, woodcarver, woodturner, wickerworker, gold,
silver and blacksmiths, electroplater, glazier, leadlighter, locksmith
and clocksmith.
We
want our clients to receive the best in quality and workmanship,
so we subcontract mastercraftsmen and women who we believe have
the best reputation for consistently high quality work - the masters.
Not surprisingly, the best more often than not, work for themselves.

Good Olde Fashioned
Service!
When
you first telephone our business you will
soon realise we are a family business, and will most likely talk
with Mrs Mavis Olsson (Gary's mother) or Cath (Gary's wife). Their
friendly and helpful assistance will ensure you can explain your
requirements easily, and make an appointment.
Gary
Olsson, Proprietor of GN OLSSON, will then come to your office or
home to discuss your needs. So, not only will you be talking to
the Owner Manager, but you will be talking to the Mastercraftsman
who will be working on and overseeing your commissioned work. We
ensure we are reliable with our appointment times too - which can
be a pleasant change.
Following
your appointment and discussions with Gary you will receive a no
obligation complimentary quote which clearly outlines what processes
are involved in the workshopping of your piece. No work is commenced
until you are completely happy and satisfied with what we are proposing.
Where
appropriate we offer design sessions, drawings, pre-polish inspections,
photos and samples to ensure that what you imagined you were ordering,
is what you actually receive.
Since
we are a larger sized business, you will enjoy getting your work
completed in a shorter time frame than most can offer.
At
all times we take great care to look after your floor coverings,
furniture and furnishings. We work in with your commitments, be
they domestic or commercial, to minimise disruption.
Our
pick up and delivery service, installations, and after sale service,
(though rarely required!) is second to none. We'll advise you on
how to maintain your piece of furniture, or make arrangements to
maintain it for you, should you wish.
... And that is
why we guarantee
our excellent service and workmanship!
